Year 2 have been learning about music that tells the story of a journey. This journey was on a train through the countryside of Brazil. It is written by Heitor Villa Lobos who was a Brazilian composer. They listened to the music whilst focussing on the Tempo (speed) of the music and imagining what they could see from the window. They then drew the picture it painted in their minds, using Brazilian artwork for inspiration and Mrs Irons put their images alongside the music.

Year 5 have been busy responding to music through art in their music lessons this term. Here is a video montage of their watercolour creations with the music that inspired them. We hope you enjoy watching Mars the Bringer of War from Gustav Holst's The Planets Suite
This term year 4 have been learning a brand new instrument - the boomwhacker. Boomwhackers are tubes of plastic that, when tapped on the hand or the ground, make a sound. There are 8 tubes of different sizes and colours, each colour and size corresponds to one of the notes in the C major scale. We had many rehearsals learning a section at a time, making sure we played in time with the notes appearing on the screen. What you see is the result of 4 or 5 weeks worth of hard work and concentration.

Last half term year 5 practised their singing skills by learning a historical version of Walk Like an Egyptian. Mrs Irons has put it into a video to share their hard work with the school community.

The show must go on! This year Rowan and Birch classes were unable to put on our usual nativity. However this did not stop us and instead we have done a virtual nativity. We hope you enjoy our show and I am sure you will agree that the children were brilliant.
Matthew playing Lady Eleanor on the piano
Children from year 1 to year 6 have again risen to the challenge set by Mrs Irons and produced wonderful pieces of music from their own homes. From drums to violas, beginners to advanced, pop to classical. There is something for everyone. We hope you enjoy our concert.
Years 1 to 4
Instrumentalists from Years 5 and 6
Year 6 performed a wonderful play-in-a-day helped by the incredible Treehouse Theatre company. We were so impressed by the quality of the children's acting and how they were able to empathise with so many different perspectives. Enjoy!
